Dwarf spearman #9

All right, time to unveil my standard bearer. Initially, there was a flag, but after one month of efforts (one month!), I couldn't get a satisfying result. So I've snapped the flag, shortened the pole, and reduced the proud banner to a simple black cross :/ The miniature is an old Citadel dwarf, from the preslotta era I think.

  1. That cross looks perfect! Well done!

  2. It's a really nice figure and great painting (as usual). The cross is a puzzle, not an icon I would immediately associate with dwarf culture - would rather see a hammer, an anvil or a dragon head - more pagan vikingish.

  4. Thanks. The cross-shaped icon is supposed to recall the pattern painted on the shields. I hope it will work with the complete regiment.

  5. Sometimes you just have to compromise when something isn't going how you would like it to. A bit of a trait in banners and flags. You did well to choose an alternative option and it's come out well, Jaeckel. Well done :)

    2. I think your simple standard works much better then a flag or banner would, I imagine it to be a holy icon for the Dwarfs, held proudly aloft for all to be inspired by.....
