Family photo of my Citadel slayers. Obviously, the standard bearer is not everyone's cup of tea and I may decide in the future to replace him by an "ordinary" slayer. I'll see if I can grab the old dragon slayer on eBay...

Anyway, I will count them as Giant Slayers and give them light armours and double-handed weapons:

So 10 times 8 +2 + 2 makes 120 points: I am now the proud owner of a 1121 pt dwarf army :)

Slayers #7 to #10

Last batch of slayers, nothing much to write except that for the last guy, I've replaced the original weapons by an axe and a dagger from the Hasslefree dwarf weapons set.


And now, you know what I did from my evenings the last two months. What a life :p

Throbin Dead Eye, slayer #6 and standard bearer

This is the second time I paint a Throbin Dead Eye miniature, anb hopefully the last one :) I'm not a big fan of this sculpture, but it was the only mini I had that I could convert into a standard bearer slayer.

As you can see, I have simply replaced the axe by a flag from a prepainted Confrontation miniature and I've tried to clean as much as possible the layer of paint to get a smooth surface before undercoating the whole mini in white.

And now the painting. With my "kind of" crusade army theme, all my standard bearers have a black cross as emblem:

So, keeping this theme in mind, I've tried to find something suitable for a bunch of orange hair mad killers with suicidal tendencies. And finally, it's just a black cross on a white background with "trollslayer" written in the middle...

The red gems are here as a reminder of the dead eye of Throbin, as you can see below:

Hmmm... should have spent more time on the shadowing, particularly in the back :(

Slayers #1 to #5

All right, it's time to unleash my slayers on the web. To tell the truth, I'm not totally happy with them, one of my (many) weaknesses being the painting of a convincing flesh on large areas (well, sort of large). Anyway, the deadline for the Bugman's contest is in two days, so I have no time left for improvement. Pictures now!

One Thousand and One Points

Hurray, now that my cannon crew is completed, I've finally reached the 1000 pt threshold: 

• 20 crossbowmen = 260 points
• 20 warriors with shields, double handed weapons, musician and standard bearer = 286 points
• 10 hammerers with standard bearer = 176 points
• 10 warriors with shields, spears, musican and standard bearer = 144 points
• 1 fire thrower team with light armours = 60 points
• 1 3-man cannon with light armours = 75 points

All my gratitude goes to Games Workshop and its executive team for cancelling the french Games Day :) Thanks to them, I've stayed focused on this army for two years now.

Next step is the painting of a small regiment for the unit painting contest on Bugman's Brewery forum. Between spearmen and slayers, I haven't decided yet... What do you think?

Loader and Commander

Here are the two last crewmen for my bombard. The loader was part of the Citadel flame cannon team and the commander was initially sold with the Marauder Miniatures organ cannon.Not much to say about the painting, same old color scheme with grey, brown and flesh tones...

Kaboom!

A 21-gun salute to celebrate my hundredth follower! The crew is a Marauder dwarf, the gun is the ex-Citadel and now Wargames Foundry Bell Bombard, unfortunately sold without axle and with smaller wheels than the original ones.

For the painting, I've drawn insipiration from the Rackham Griffin cannons and I'm quite happy with the result (although there is always room for improvement!).

 

Half a regiment in 6 months...

I knew from the beginning that this regiment would be hard to complete, but six months to paint only 10 dwarfs... This is ridiculous! Anyway, here are the first two ranks of this glorious regiment.

 

Now, let's do the maths: one warrior with shield and spear = 12 points, multiplied by 12 to take into account the musician and the standard bearer... 144 points, that is 24 points per month. 

Considering that I have already painted

• 20 crossbowmen = 260 points

• 10 hammerers with standard bearer = 176 points

At this pace, I'll need 7 more years to complete a 3000 points army... Sigh.
